For those who are not familiar with the Creed family, the House of Creed is a famous cologne and perfume creator that was founded back in 1760 in London. Originally founded by James Henry Creed, the originality and quality of the House of Creed were such that only a very select clientele was served by the House. The House is headed by a Master Perfumer, usually one from the family of Creed himself. The current Master Perfumer of the House is Olivier Creed, and he has carried on the lasting tradition of the House by producing both men’s and women’s cologne and perfumes at the highest quality. There is close to 200 specific and unique cents within the House of Creed portfolio, two of which we would look at today, the Creed Vetiver and the Creed Original Vetiver.

Let us first look at the Creed Vetiver, not to be mistaken with the Creed Original Vetiver that only made its debut in 2004. The Creed Vetiver was unveiled way back in 1948, and is perfect for gentlemen who love the combination of vetiver (that gives you a woody feel), ginger and also cedar. This cologne is more dominant compared to the newer version, and is a more pure vetiver cologne.

The Creed Original Vetiver (COV) does not have the same formulation as the Creed Vetiver, it contains a few more extras that combine well with ginger and vetiver such as mandarin, bergamot, sandalwood and also iris. The COV proves to be the more subdued and subtle of the two (when compared to Creed Vetiver), and is something that the newer generation would be able to connect with. When you spray it upon yourself, you would not be able to smell the vetiver fragrance until very-much later, some with less-sensitive noses would most probably sense a woody-lemony cologne that is light and not too imposing. It has also been reported as a little thin on the base note, and proves to be one that is light and fresh.

When compared, the Creed Vetiver of 1948 is more elegant and classy, while the COV proves to be more youthful and fresh, suitable with the current needs of this modern age. Both are excellent choices, nevertheless if you are young and vibrant, you would most probably want to opt for the Creed Original Vetiver. The middle-aged and the older men would be better off with the classy Creed Vetiver.
